Core beliefs

One Faith Community Church is a Gospel centered, non-denominational church that believes there is only One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism in Jesus Christ as our only means to Salvation. We acknowledge the Bible as the inspired Word of God and believe the indwelling of the Holy Spirit empowers us to become accountable to God's Word in all aspects of our lives.

What we believe

God - God is the Creator and ruler of the universe and beyond. He has eternally existed in three persons- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. God is timeless (eternal with neither a beginning nor end), omnipotent (all powerful, unlimited power), omnipresent (present everywhere, at every time), and omniscient (has complete knowledge, understanding, and awareness of all). God transcends our ability to comprehend. Therefore, we adhere to what He has given us through His Word, which is Jesus Christ.

God The Father - The first person of the Trinity, the origin of all. The Supreme Authority through which the Son and Spirit flow forth from expressing His person and will.

God The Son Jesus - Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father, originally existing as the Word and becoming flesh. In becoming flesh, Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a Jewish virgin girl named Mary. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind by dying on a cross. Jesus was buried in a tomb and arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His Power over sin and death. Jesus revealed His resurrection by showing Himself to His disciples and others and teaching them for forty days. He ascended to heaven’s glory, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will return again.

God The Holy Spirit - Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make man aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing the will of God. In a Love covenant relationship, the Christian seeks to live a life of obedience to God daily. The Holy Spirit is promised to all born again Christians. He then comes to live in the life of those believers. He, the Holy Spirit, gives believers the ability to please God through faith and to accomplish the will of God. (Acts 2:4,38-39; 10:44-46; 19:1-6; Ephesians 5:18, Hebrews 11:6). Receiving the Holy Spirit results in spiritual fruit (Galatians 5:22,23), growth in Christ-likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18), spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:1-11), and an effective prayer life (Romans 8:26, 27).

The Bible - The Bible is the inerrant Word of God to all mankind. It is written by human authors, commissioned by the Lord, and given under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because itis inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. The Bible is above natural understanding of mankind without the guidance of Holy Spirit.

Man - Man was made in the image and likeness of God. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Man was and is created for good works and God’s pleasure. Through disobedience, the very good and pleasing likeness that man was formed in became marred by sin. God is relentless in pursuing reconciliation and the restoration of man’s likeness. God is actively eradicating sin and restoring relationship with man to the glory of His great name!

About Eternity - Mankind was created to and therefore will exist forever. The supreme question is where will eternity will be spent? Due to sin, mankind became separated from God. That separation is eternal without a Lordship relationship with Jesus Christ. Man will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Eternal separation from God in hell is an eternal reality for those who do not have a relationship with God through Jesus. To be eternally in union with Christ is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.

Salvation - Salvation is a gift from God to mankind. The acceptance of this gift is the only opportunity for forgiveness of sin and escape of its penalty. Salvation is granted to all who would believe and receive Jesus Christ as Lord by faith. The grace and power of God maintains our salvation through faith not works.

Baptism - Baptism by immersion represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and a person willingness to die to his/her self. Baptism is a person’s public declaration that you have received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ. If you love Jesus, you should obey Him in baptism!

Communion - Communion or the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember His sacrifice for us and to represent the new covenant. The elements of bread and juice are representatives of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the cross and the power of His resurrection.
